Chongqing Airport Layovers: Navigating Transit Hotels and 144-Hour TWOV

Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport (CKG) is rapidly expanding, with the massive T3B terminal entering service in April 2025. For international travelers utilizing China's 144-hour visa-free transit policy, a layover here requires strategic accommodation choices. Global mapping apps frequently fail in Chongqing's multi-layered topography, meaning you cannot rely on a quick GPS search to find your bed after a midnight arrival.A successful transit stay requires zero-transfer access or a reliable shuttle, avoiding the friction of navigating rush-hour traffic into the downtown core. Whether you need the immediate 4.9-kilometer proximity of the Holiday Inn Express Airport Zone for a quick turnaround, or prefer a seamless Metro Line 10 ride directly to a downtown luxury tower for a two-day visa-free stay, prioritizing 24-hour English-speaking front desks and guaranteed late-night check-ins is essential for inbound passengers.
