Reinvented Narratives: Prisons, Banks, and Publishing Houses in Helsinki

Helsinki is a master of metamorphosis, where the walls truly talk. In this curated collection, we explore the Finnish capital's most intriguing adaptive reuse projects turned luxury accommodations. From the typographic history embedded in the former Finnish Literature Society printing house—now Hotel St. George—to the Art Deco former police station housing Hotel Lilla Roberts, these properties offer more than just sleep; they offer stories. Located primarily in the design-centric Kaartinkaupunki and the bustling Kluuvi districts, these hotels blend 19th-century grandeur with contemporary Nordic minimalism. Whether it is the commercial heritage of Hotel U14 or the legendary cultural salons of Hotel Kämp, prepare to inhabit spaces where Helsinki's history has been elegantly rewritten for the modern traveler.
