Jinling Grand Hotel Nanchang
In a city defined by its frenetic energy and theme park clamor, the Jinling Grand Hotel Nanchang offers a jarring, welcome counterpoint: silence. Situated on the edge of the Aixi Lake Wetland Park, this property functions less like a city hotel and more like a breathless resort exhale. The lobby is a study in old-school ambition—soaring ceilings and crystal chandeliers that feel aggressively grand—but the real draw is the hardware. Entry-level rooms start at a generous 37 square meters, most featuring private balconies that actually justify opening the doors, offering sweeping views of the wetlands rather than a concrete jungle. However, the 'Grand' moniker comes with caveats. While the Jinling Salted Duck at the Malachite Chinese Restaurant remains a reliable tether to the brand’s Nanjing roots, the service can feel delightfully, or frustratingly, retro. Breakfast at the All-Day Dining Restaurant is a contact sport; the Fresh Rice Noodle Station is excellent—Nanchang *ban fen* is a must—but you may need to flag down a waiter twice for coffee. It’s a hotel of high highs (the 25-meter indoor pool is a swimmer’s dream) and puzzling lows (indifferent concierge vibes). Come for the sprawling square footage and the direct park access; just don't expect the intuitive service of a St. Regis.
