Hotel Magnolia
If Dracula had a degree in sustainable architecture, he’d sleep here. Hotel Magnolia isn't just a renovation; it’s a séance between the 1920s and the 2020s. You enter through heavy doors into a lobby where the past is literally beneath your feet—glass floors hover over original adobe ruins, while a geometric 'Wireflow' chandelier cuts through the air like a modernist spiderweb. It is moody, sexy, and unapologetically Chilean. The rooms are sanctuaries of silence in the bustling Centro, featuring soaring ceilings and bathrooms stocked with local Majen products that smell of Patagonian rain. Dinner at Magnolia Kitchen is essential; the Magellanic Tostones (loaded with sweet King Crab) are a textural triumph. While service can occasionally lag—breakfast rush hour is a contact sport—the staff’s charm usually bridges the gap. The real showstopper is the rooftop. Sip a Citrus Pistón pisco sour as the sun bleeds behind Cerro Santa Lucía, and you’ll forgive any wait. **Verdict:** A sophisticated, design-forward hideaway that proves heritage doesn't have to feel dusty.
