If the walls of the former B&W shipyard could talk, they’d likely be confused by the sudden influx of 400-thread count linens and mint-green copper towers. Known locally as the ‘Desert Fort,’ this Christianshavn monolith has shed its soot for a sophisticated coat of modernist polish. The lobby sets the tone: a cathedral of concrete softened by Anna Bak’s suspended artwork, signaling that this isn’t just a place to sleep—it’s a design statement. Upstairs, the aesthetic is strictly Nordic efficiency. The 7th-floor corner rooms are the real prize, framing the harbor through floor-to-ceiling glass that makes the compact wardrobes feel like a minor grievance. While the recurring climate control quirks can occasionally turn a room into a sauna, the views are a worthy trade-off. Dining is a serious affair here; skip the standard brasserie fare for Tablafina, where the premium tinned foods and cured meats offer a sharp Spanish counterpoint to Danish smørrebrød. The real scene, however, is at ROOF. Here, amidst the wind-whipped terrace, the signature lobster croustades and 'Nasty sliders' draw a crowd that’s decidedly more cosmopolitan than tourist. It lacks a pool—a cardinal sin for some—but with the canal right outside, you’re invited to take the plunge the local way.
