Hotel More
If James Bond retired to the Dalmatian Coast, he’d hole up at Hotel More. Carved aggressively into the limestone cliffs of Lapad Bay, this boutique hideaway eschews the polished, cookie-cutter minimalism of the Old Town’s newer builds for something far more rugged and nautical. It is not merely near the sea; it is of it. The layout is a vertical labyrinth of elevators and staircases that eventually spill you out onto a private concrete pier, where ladders drop you straight into the ink-blue Adriatic—no sand, no fuss, just deep, refreshing water. While the nautical-themed rooms with their mahogany woods and blue carpets lean towards a vintage captain’s quarters aesthetic, the details are sharp: La Bottega 'The Botanist & The Chemist' amenities scent the air, and the silence (thanks to a strict 14+ policy) is golden. The undisputed protagonist, however, is the Cave Bar More. Sipping a 'Frozen More' cocktail inside a natural stalactite-filled cavern feels illicitly cool, but the real theater happens upstairs at Restaurant More. Order the steak flambé for two; watching the maître d’ ignite the pan against the backdrop of a violet twilight is the kind of old-school hospitality that modern hotels have forgotten. It’s quirky, dramatic, and unapologetically unique.
