5-star hotel
The Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne, Miami
If South Beach is a double espresso, Key Biscayne is a slow-steeped chamomile tea—and after a sweeping $100 million renovation completed in late 2025, The Ritz-Carlton has finally dressed for the occasion. The grand dame has shaken off her dated, heavy drapery in favor of a “sand-to-ocean” aesthetic that feels less like a hotel and more like a curated coastal residence. The lobby, once partitioned, now frames the Atlantic in uninterrupted glory, washing the arrival experience in salt air and soft neutrals. The real alchemy, however, happens in the segregation of vibes. The adults-only ‘Tranquility’ pool remains a sanctuary of silence (and excellent agave service), while the family pool absorbs the Splash Pad chaos without bleeding sound. Dining has been entirely overhauled: skip the room service and head to ‘Luma’ for the ricotta gnocchi with caviar—a dish that justifies the resort fee alone—or ‘Paralía’ for shrimp saganaki that rivals the Greek Isles. While the spa’s Vitamin C showers are a gimmicky delight, the ESPA treatments remain world-class. Verdict: The tired interiors are gone. This is now the definitive luxury sequester for families who want Miami’s weather without its volume.
