The Bloomsbury
While the Bloomsbury Set famously lived in squares and loved in triangles, they never had a clubhouse quite like this. Occupying a Grade II-listed neo-Georgian pile by Sir Edwin Lutyens, The Bloomsbury acts as the neighbourhood’s social anchor, shedding the dusty academic stereotype for something far more spirited. The Martin Brudnizki-designed Coral Room is the hotel's beating heart—a double-height salon with vivid walls and Murano glass chandeliers that feels like a Wes Anderson set come to life. Upstairs, the rooms balance heritage with high-gloss modernity. While entry-level quarters can feel intimate (a polite euphemism for 16sqm), the suites are sprawling affairs with Italian marble bathrooms stocked with Malin+Goetz amenities and velvet upholstery. Dining is a theatrical sport here: Dalloway Terrace changes its floral skin seasonally, offering the perfect backdrop for a plate of Portland Crab & Fresh Prawn Linguine. For a nightcap, descend to the Bloomsbury Club Bar for 1920s-inspired jazz and stiff drinks. Service is polished but approachable, lacking the stiffness often found in historic properties. It is a triumphant revival of a literary legend.
